2015-01-24 Saturday - A Visit Home

Last night, into a slight misty evening that hinted at more rain, I departed the client office en route to the Seattle Light Rail Westlake station, on my way to Seattle Tacoma International Airport - to catch a flight South to the marina where my ship is berthed.

Upon landing, a quick shuttle ride to the Hertz rental lot, and I am on my way to the marina.

The night sky was clear, and brilliant gems of stars shone in the sky, as I walked down the dock to my vessel...

This morning I woke to the rushing sound of wind passing through the marina...the boat rocking with a herky-jerky movement...the sound of halyards clanging against masts throughout the marina providing a symphony of sound that is a pleasure to hear for anyone that has been away from his boat for awhile.

No matter where I may roam, no matter where my work may take me...home, for now, will always be a ship, tucked away in some harbor berth or quiet anchorage in some country.  There is nothing that fills my soul with such delight as stepping aboard and falling asleep to the gentle swaying movement of my ship as the tide rises and falls.
