P.G. Wodehouse

Serendipity.

During my years in the U.S. Army - whenever possible, I would spend my weekends at the base library. Wandering the aisles - and relying upon the spur of the moment serendipity to guide me to some interesting tome that I would then check-out and bring with me on field maneuvers.

That was how I first became acquainted with Meditations by Emperor of Rome Marcus Aurelius, and Letters From a Stoic (Epistulae Morales ad Lucilium) - by Seneca the Younger (fully, Lucius Annaeus Seneca)

Now, the internet allows much greater depth and breadth in such meanderings.

Today, one such gem uncovered: The life & writings of P.G. Wodehouse.

I am fascinated by his prolific output - his creative process and techniques for writing - and the conditions under which his creativity thrived under the hash conditions while interned in a German prison during WW II.

It was the briefest of mentions in a Wikipedia article, quoting the great British actor, Hugh Laurie, regarding the import of P.G. Wodehouse's writings on his life - that led me on this path of discovery today.

Serendipity, indeed.
