Waiting is, until fullness

Recently, I reached out to someone to check-in on them.
They agreed to call me that evening to catch-up.
They mentioned their interest in me helping them find some new opportunities.

I had in mind some immediately ripe (and time-sensitive) introductions to make on behalf of this person - and was eagerly looking forward to helping them.

They blew off our scheduled time to chat.
No follow-up.
No apology.

My initial reaction was to be irritated.

But, a deeper contemplation is needed.

Perhaps they are going through some great stress in their life.
Perhaps they are depressed.
Perhaps there has been some recent tragedy.
Perhaps there has been a family emergency - or a work crisis.

We can never know the burdens that another is carrying - or the suffering that another may be going through.

This is a reminder to myself, to be kind, to be patient, to continue to be a friend.
